Q. What is a passport? |
| A. A passport is a document issued by the country of citizenship that allows a person to exit and re-enter their country of citizenship. |

Q. Do I require a passport to travel to the USA? |
| A. If you are a Canadian citizen, you do not require a passport to travel to the USA. You will however, require proof of citizenship. Proof can be provided in the form of a certificate of citizenship or a birth-certificate and photo identification. |
Q. I have a pardon for a criminal offence, can I travel to the USA? |
| A. You may be ineligible to enter the US unless you apply for a waiver. |
Q. Do I require a passport to travel outside of North America? |

Q. I am travelling to a foreign country with my child, do I need any documents for my child? |
| A. Yes. Depending on the country and whether you are travelling as a family or alone with your child, you may require a passport, visa, and/or a notarized letter from the biological parent. |
Q. What is a visa? |
| A. A visa is a document (usually a stamp in your passport) that allows you to present yourself to immigration of the country issuing the visa. A visa does not guarantee entry. |
Q. Do I need a visa to enter a foreign country? |
| A. You may need a visa prior to travelling to a foreign country based on the country and the reason for the visit, i.e. tourist, business, student. |

Q. What is a work permit? |
| A. A work permit is a document issued by the country in which you are seeking to work that allows the holder to work in a specified job, for a specified employer in a specified location for a specified period. |
Q. How do I get a work permit? |
| A. To apply for a work permit you must first have an offer of employment from a company in the country that you are travelling to. Then, in most cases, the company who will be employing you must apply on your behalf. |
Q. I would like to travel and work in a foreign country, what visa do I need? |
A. If you are a Canadian young adult between 18 and 25 years of age (depending on country), you may qualify for a Working Holiday Visa. If you are planning to make a long term or permanent move to a foreign country, you must have a valid job offer to apply for a work permit/visa. For more information contact

Q. Can I get a work permit for Europe? |
| A. No. Each country is responsible for granting their own work permits. Even though there is a European common market, if you are not a citizen of one of the EC countries, then you must apply for a work permit to the country you intend to work in. If it is more than one country, then you will need to make more than one application. |
